Prioritising Rest: World Sleep Day 💤💤 At Rush House, caring for others starts with caring for ourselves. When our team feels rested and well, it directly impacts the quality of care and compassion we offer every day. Recently, we dedicated one of our Health & Wellbeing sessions to something we all rely on… but rarely talk about properly: sleep. We talked about something many people have never been taught: sleep posture. Most of us have our favourite sleeping position, but the reality is that some postures can put strain on the back, hips, shoulders or neck. Even the smallest misalignment can impact sleep quality and leave you feeling achy by morning. A Personal Experience: Lisa (Head of EET & Community Services) shared a service they accessed that offered a 1:1 assessment of sleep posture. The specialist recommended a supportive pillow to place between knees at night, something so simple, yet it helped realign Lisa's spine and ease tension she didn’t even realise was linked to how she slept. We also looked at a range of gentle, accessible sleep supports, including: ✨ Aromatherapy sticks to help calm a busy mind ✨ Specialist sleep teas that promote relaxation ✨ Simple evening routines that prepare the body and brain for rest

Last Saturday we welcomed South Yorkshire Police to Rush for our Saturday Sizzler breakfast with our residents. 🍳 Over a brew and a conversation, we explored the realities of County Lines, how to spot the signs, and how to stay safe. The young people came armed with questions and the officers provided open, honest answers. A massive thank you to South Yorkshire Police for being approachable, supportive and genuinely engaging with our residents.

As Easter approaches, we’re collecting Easter eggs for young people at Rush House , and we’d love your support. We’re collecting Easter eggs to share a little joy and remind the young people at Rush House that their community cares. Even one chocolate egg can make a huge difference. A simple chocolate egg can bring a moment of joy to someone who really needs it. 💛 If you’re able to donate, big or small, it will make a huge difference. 📍 Drop-off point: 17 Lindum Terrace , S65 1NJ 📅 Deadline: Thursday 2nd April Help us spread a little kindness this Easter. Thank you so much for your generosity! 🌷✨

Last week, as part of Child Exploitation Intensification Week, we were pleased to welcome South Yorkshire Police Rush. Working together, we handed over the pointed kitchen knives previously used in our communal spaces. These have now been replaced with 55 full sets of rounded, safer knives. A simple change, but one that makes a real difference. We’re grateful to South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit and South Yorkshire Police for supporting us to take proactive steps in reducing risk and promoting safety within our accommodation. Keeping our young people safe is always our priority, and partnership working like this strengthens that commitment.

A Place of Your Own – Pre-Tenancy Training Our A Place of Your Own pre-tenancy training is designed to support individuals of all ages to develop the knowledge and confidence needed to successfully manage and sustain a tenancy. This programme is open to everyone. Most recently, we were proud to see an individual aged 87 complete the training, demonstrating that developing skills for independent living is both valuable and relevant at any stage of life. The course covers key areas including understanding tenancy agreements, budgeting and financial management, maintaining a property, and knowing tenant rights and responsibilities. Our aim is to equip participants with practical skills that promote stability and long-term housing success. For further information or to discuss referrals, please contact: [email protected]
