Rush House is now registered as Supported Accommodation Provider under Ofsted

Why Ofsted Now Regulates Supported Accommodation

From 2023, all providers of supported accommodation for 16‑ and 17‑year‑olds must register with Ofsted. This change was introduced because the sector previously had no independent oversight, which meant young people could be placed in unsafe or unsuitable settings. Regulation now ensures that accommodation is safe, supportive, and meets consistent national standards.

The government acted following concerns about variable quality and the inappropriate use of supported accommodation for young people who were not ready for semi‑independent living. New legislation—the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023—introduces mandatory Quality Standards and makes it an offence to operate without Ofsted registration.

Overall, Ofsted’s involvement aims to protect vulnerable young people, improve the quality of provision, and ensure every young person lives in a safe, nurturing environment as they move towards independence.
